New webinar dates for Phonics Checks
12 March, 2025
To help with the introduction of the first ever nationally consistent phonics checks the Ministry is running webinars to take you through how to do the checks.
Webinars are available across a number of days throughout Term 1. The sessions will cover everything you need to know to get started using the checks in your classroom, as well as the opportunity to ask questions.
The checks will be instrumental in helping Year 1 teachers improve literacy learning outcomes for their students, alongside embedding the updated English learning area. The results of the phonics check may also indicate that accelerative learning supports are required to help children progress and achieve as expected.
