New national curriculum implementation supports hub
3 February, 2025
The work to strengthen our national curriculum is a multi-year programme that includes refreshing The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa (TMoA), alongside making changes to our assessment and aromatawai system.
In partnership with the sector, we’re working towards an internationally comparable national curriculum that is knowledge rich, clear about the learning that matters, and sequenced so that teachers and kaiako, ākonga and their whanau, have clarity about what needs to be covered, and in what order.
In response to sector feedback since the launch of Tāhūrangi, we have established an implementation supports hub. This will help to keep track of what is happening and support you with accessing information about all the resources available to implement the changes to The NZC and TMoA.
National curriculum implementation supports (Tāhūrangi)
The implementation hub comprises a new carousel on the main landing page for Tāhūrangi and houses up-to-date information and links to the implementation supports available for schools and kura. The hub currently has a particular focus on the 2025 year, and the unique supports available for English (0-6) and maths (0-8) learning areas within The NZC, and Te Reo Rangatira (0-6) and Pāngarau (0-8) wāhanga ako within TMoA.
On the carousel, you’ll also find our change story and a kete of previous updates, news items and Te Poutāhū Curriculum Newsletters so all the information you need to implement these changes is in one place.
We’ll update the resources and information in the hub as we reach new milestones and release new learning areas and wāhanga ako.
We will further support you with detailed information and checklists available through Tāhūrangi and our Curriculum Newsletter, so keep an eye out for these.
