Tāhūrangi Privacy Statement

Purpose

This privacy statement applies to personal and other information collected on this website. 

The purpose of this privacy statement is to let users of the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Tāhūrangi Online Curriculum Hub (Tāhūrangi) know when we collect personal information and what we do with it.

The following Terms apply to users of Tāhūrangi. By using Tāhūrangi you agree to these Terms.

We will: 

  • provide Tāhūrangi to you with reasonable care and skill 

  • make all reasonable efforts to ensure Tāhūrangi does everything we say it will. 

Your privacy 

Your privacy is important to us. This statement advises users of Tāhūrangi about the personal information we collect and hold about them and how we use and share it. You may at any time ask us what information we hold about you and ask us to correct any errors. 

When we provide Tāhūrangi to you we collect data such as information about your usage and login timestamp information (Usage Information). We may (e.g., when setting up an account) also collect other information about you, e.g., your name, email address, etc (User Information). You may also voluntarily provide personal information to us (for example, through your personal user preferences, email feedback or online forms). 

All personal information collected or supplied will only be used or shared as laid out below: for the purposes for which it was provided; and/or as permitted or required under the Privacy Act 2020 or other relevant legislation. Personal information will be held securely and will be removed once no longer required and once record keeping requirements have been met. 
 

Usage Information 

  • We use your Usage Information to inform reporting requirements associated with your Tāhūrangi activity, and for security and troubleshooting purposes. To be able to provide Tāhūrangi to you we share Usage Information with our authorised service providers. We use non-identifying usage information to inform ongoing improvements to system functionality. 

User Information 

  • We use User Information in order to deliver Tāhūrangi to you, and to improve and personalise your experiences. We may also use User Information to communicate with you, for example, informing you about Tāhūrangi, security updates and other Tāhūrangi information. We may also share your User Information with our authorised service providers to deliver Tāhūrangi; to other providers whose applications you link to through Tāhūrangi and with any authorised person (internal or external) in connection with Tāhūrangi for security purposes. 

  • We safeguard your User Information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. 

3. Statistical information and cookies 

Statistical information collected 

We use Google Analytics to collect statistical information about your visit to help us improve the site. This information is not aggregated and does not identify you personally. It includes: 

  • your IP address 

  • the search terms you used 

  • the pages you visited on our site and the links you clicked on 

  • the date and time you visited the site 

  • the referring site (if any) from which you clicked through to this site

  • your operating system, for example Windows, MacOS 

  • the type of web browser you use, such as Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox 

  • other things like your screen resolution and the language setting of your browser. 

Use of statistical information 

The statistical information referred to above can be viewed by site administrators and certain other support staff. No personal information is shared with other government agencies.

Cookies

Browser cookies are small files that are sent by a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies are used by this website to provide the Ministry with information about site usage and to help us improve our website. 

This site generates persistent session cookies (that is, they have an expiry date and are removed on that date) for the purpose of monitoring site usage. 

The cookies do not collect personal information. You can disable them or clear them out of your web browser without affecting your ability to use the site.
