Term 2 teacher-only day resources
3 May 2024
The third (of four) scheduled teacher-only days for curriculum and assessment change planning is scheduled to take place between Monday 27 May and Friday 7 June 2024. This day provides time away from the classroom for teachers and kaiako to prepare for curriculum and assessment changes.
While many schools and kura already have plans for the day, we encourage spending this time reflecting on recent changes, re-setting around available supports and best practice, and preparing for changes likely to be introduced from the middle of this year. We also encourage taking time to become familiar with the content on Tāhūrangi, and how to move towards more structured teaching approaches.
To support schools and kura with their teacher-only day a range of new online resources have been developed, including:
Tāhūrangi activities and guidance on how to find phonics resources
Guides on the science of learning
Videos and activities related to structured literacy, pānui and tuhituhi
Guided conversations about the NCEA co-requisite
NCEA Level 1 supports
A Mātauranga Māori guide for English medium schools
