Curriculum Data Snapshots for Terms 1-3 2025 released

28 January 2026

Making sense of Curriculum Data Snapshots

Curriculum Data Snapshots give a clear, point-in-time view of curriculum and assessment data and feedback. Each snapshot provides a high-level overview of what’s happening across the sector at that moment, supporting transparency and regular visibility of progress.

As data is collected and reported each term, the snapshots will provide a richer, more connected picture of system-wide trends. This ongoing cycle helps schools and kura see national patterns, track progress over time, supports their planning and professional conversations.

Why they matter

We’ve developed these snapshots to give schools and kura visibility of national data—so you can use it with confidence in your local context.

  • Support your planning and decision-making: Snapshots offer accessible, national data to support your curriculum conversations, planning, and reflection.

  • See how your feedback is used: Each snapshot includes actions the Ministry is taking in response to your feedback—so you can see the impact of your voice.

  • Share data with confidence: By making national patterns visible and showing how data is used constructively, snapshots help build trust and encourage confident data sharing across the sector.

  • Part of a wider shift: This initiative reflects a broader move toward more responsive, transparent, and data-informed engagement between the Ministry and the education sector.

The Curriculum Data Snapshot for Term 4, 2025 will be released midway through Term 1, 2026. Future snapshots will follow the same pattern, releasing midway through the following school term, creating a consistent rhythm of data sharing and building a clearer picture of system-wide trends over time.
